About the web site

My father, Joseph West, was member of Amvets Post 114 since he moved to Elk Rapids.  He loved the post and the people that make it a such a great organization.  In 1999, I had built a web site for the ship that he served on during the Korean War, the U.S.S. Rochester (CA124) and have maintained the site ever since.  When Dad passed away, in July of 2005, I offered to do the same thing for the post, in his memory.  I am grateful they accepted.  I am now a member of the post.  I wanted to make sure that a 'Joe West' remained on the membership roles for years to come.  I don't live in Elk Rapids, so I can't pitch in as Dad did, but I can do this.  Below is a letter from post member Bill Cantrell, that was published in the Elk Rapids Town Meeting, following Joe Sr.'s. passing.  I can't say it any better than Bill does.  Thank you.
