About the web site

My father, Joseph West, was member of Amvets Post 114 since he moved to Elk Rapids.  He loved the post and the people that make it a such a great organization.  In 1999, I had built a web site for the ship that he served on during the Korean War, the U.S.S. Rochester (CA124).  I have and will continue to maintain that site in his memory.  When Dad passed away, in July of 2005, I offered to do the same thing for the post.  I am grateful they accepted.  I am now a member of the post.  I wanted to make sure that a 'Joe West' remained on the membership roles for years to come.  I don't live in Elk Rapids, so I can't pitch in as Dad did, but I can do this.  Below is a letter from post member Bill Cantrell, that was published in the Elk Rapids Town Meeting, following Joe Sr.'s. passing.  I can't say it any better than Bill does.  Thank you.
